There are so many things to do at work. The list of tasks seems endless. You’re exhausted.
You can take control of your time, to an extent, with these simple tips for healthcare industry time management techniques.
Let’s get started.
Create a to-do list and use it
If you want to track all that you need to do, then you need a to-do list. The key to managing a to-do list is updating it frequently whenever priorities change. This can be one of the most important tips for healthcare industry. More on this later.
It’s nearly impossible to remember every single detail on any give workday. Give your brain a rest and write things down. Use a notebook or a task software, it’s up to you. Then stick to a routine of updating the list.
Urgent requests. Those may come in suddenly, and when they do, it’s time to prioritize what can wait for another day. Every day, review your to-do list and decide on each tasks priority level. High or low? Today or next week? You decide.
Expect to be flexible a bit when managing a to-do list. Just like in life, curve balls happen and you’ll need to adjust accordingly.
Block off time on your calendar to recharge
Use your calendar wisely. Figure out when you have the most and least amounts of energy. Then schedule the tasks that require the most energy, when you know you have the bandwidth to do so.
Perhaps, afternoons you experience a lull in energy typically. Then do the tasks that are easier and less taxing during these low energy times.
Be sure to block off time on your calendar to recharge, whether that’s for breaks and time away from work.
Ask for help
Know when to ask for help and when to delegate tasks to help achieve your healthcare organization’s overall goals. Asking for help is not a weakness, it’s a strength.
Remember, teamwork makes the dream work.
